Marriage License

information

We work closely with other vendors in town to stay up-to-date on the latest marriage license information. This is the current direction we've received directly from the probate court, but please note that their rules are subject to change without notification. Clients must defer to their guidance, and the information below is not guaranteed to be accurate - it's simply the latest info we've heard.

1. You must submit your application (along with copies of any necessary supporting documentation), by filling out the online form.

2. After you fill out the online application, please schedule an appointment for both applicants to come to the Court for your license. Make sure you bring all necessary supporting documents with you (below). This process will minimize your time at the courthouse and save you from having to make return trips. Walk-ins without appointment will not be accepted.

Necessary supporting documents (but not limited to):

- Color copies of both applicants’ driver’s licenses or passports

- Signed or sealed divorce judgment from the last marriage or death certificate for last former spouse.

3. During your appointment, payment will be accepted by credit/debit card, cash, money order, or cashiers check only.

Directions From the Probate court

For out of town couples

Your marriage license must be picked up in Chatham County, Savannah. You can complete most of the process by applying online before you arrive in town, and then set an appointment to pick up the license in person at the probate court in Savannah.

Most couples schedule that appointment for the day they get into town, or at least one day before the wedding just in case there’s any sort of issue.

Once you have your marriage license in hand,  bring it to the ceremony, our officiant signs it and mails it off for you, and you get a certified copy in the mail after the wedding.
